Have
your Bronze Clock in the right place.
The
most important question, which one needs to consider before buying a large
bronze clock is perhaps - “Do I need a bronze clock”?
While
it can be relatively easy to choose your favourite bronze clock - another
important question is what to do with it then? Things of an “Empire” style are
often created with the aristocratic character in mind and thus require its
owner to have an appropriate lifestyle.
This
is especially true for the large or giant Bronze clocks of "Empire"
style which you cannot just bring home and put anywhere in a room. Bronze
clocks of “Empire” era style - is a complete, self-contained product, which has
influence on the interior around it, creating a distinctive feeling of being
“Home at home”. Therefore, the bronze Decor rigidly dictates furniture set up
and colour scheme, which simply must conform to it. If the clock does not
coincide with the interior in style, it begins to dominate, suppressing the
remaining items and closing the space on itself.
Indeed
today, just as it was 200 years ago - interior clock characterizing its owner
more than anything else. “Empire” era style bronze clock in the right place –
is an indication of respectability, success and most importantly - good
taste!
Read more about the
history of Decorative Bronze art:
Bronze
was last at the peak of its popularity at the end of the Renaissance.
During that period virtually every house had adornments made of cast
bronze; figures or bronze elements on the headboards of the beds,
candle holders, door handles and other items of furniture and
accessories.
At
the present time the bronze is again coming back into fashion and so -
the demand for quality bronze goods such as decor and jewelry is
rising. Especially popular are the products which were created by
casting method as this gives the finished product an old look - a
certain mystique or charm, which is so valued by decorators and art
collectors.
This
“old look” or “the effect of
antiquity” in new
bronze is achieved through the formation a special film on its surface.
While
the
original ancient bronze processing method has been lost for over 6,000
years - today the method of processing bronze has been recovered and is
widely used in contemporary art.
Almost
anything that is made from Bronze – starting with door
handles
and bath rails and ending with chandeliers and bronze wall clocks can
create a special atmosphere in your home.
So
what is Bronze?
To put it simple - Bronze is an alloy and is a mixture of two different
metals. These two metals are copper and tin.
Copper
in its pure form is too soft to make tools out of it. Tin is too easy
to break. But if you mix a bit of tin and copper then the finished
product becomes bronze. The
ancient Egyptians have been making copper statues since at least 5,000
years B.C. In North America, Indians have also discovered and began to
use copper prior to the arrival of Columbus. Later the Greeks have
also discovered this soft metal.
Bronze
on the other hand - is very hard. That’s why it was so useful
in
ancient times. It made very good tools. Bronze is also perfect for
making statues.
Bronze can be different, for example - there’s bell bronze
and
there’s cannon bronze. Bronze is perfect for making
sculptures
because it melts readily and is easily processed in to a product which
is easy to shape. Bronze does not rust from the humidity.
These
properties, combined with the artistic quality and a beautiful colour
make bronze a valuable material for many arts and artists.
The
earliest bronze sculptures were made from solid masses. But during the
Acadian period in Mesopotamia craftsmen have learned to create hollow
items. This
allowed people to create large bronze statues. In the sixth century BC
the Greeks have especially excelled in the manufacture of bronze.
Today
many
famous works of art in bronze such as bronze sculptures are assembled
in leading art collections and museums. Some of the original art
masterpieces made of bronze can bring from $ 250,000 to over $ 600,000
at auction.
Decorative
bronze craft - is a separate and unique part of applied art, which
existed for centuries.
The
term "Decorative bronze art" refers to that massive abundance of
sculpture, applied and decorative items made of bronze which are
considered to be mandatory attributes in the design of prestigious
ceremonial and residential interiors.
This includes furniture made of bronze: tables, coffee tables, floor
stands and wall consoles as well as bronze decor such as decorative
vases, mantel clocks, and console or buffet clocks, bronze fireplace
screens and other items of bronze decor for home.
Bronze
wall fixtures and wall lights are also very popular - ceiling
chandeliers, wall sconces, floor lamps, table lamps, table candle
holders, girandole (desktop candle holders with crystal or glass
ornaments) since these have always been seen as a sign of good taste,
wealth and prestige.
There
is also bronze decor for the office which includes many things: writing
utensils and accessories, bells, press-pads, frames for miniatures and
photo frames. Very often office interior decor includes bronze items
with decorative elements of semi-precious stone, glass, crystal or fine
bone china.
